Just a month before his suicide, computer programmer Aaron Swartz finished a project known as Deaddrop. Kevin Poulsen, a Wired editor came to Swartz with the idea. His goal was to create a safe place online for leaked articles and other sensitive material to be submitted and protected. The New Yorker uses this tech to “communicate with our writers and editors with greater anonymity and security than afforded by conventional email.”
This is a great site that gives much needed protection for sources and journalists alike. If people know this tech exists and trust it they will be much more willing to come forward with sensitive info.
